David Mills

Director of Health Sciences

David C. Mills is Director of Health Sciences within the division of Government Relations, Advocacy, and Economic Development. David is a historian, political scientist, and seasoned executive in government relations. Elected to political office at age twenty-five, David worked for the Tennessee General Assembly; Governor Ned McWherter; and established the government relations program at The Nemours Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, in Wilmington, Delaware. He held the position of senior director of government relations for the Iowa Health Information Network. Additionally, David held several positions at Vanderbilt University, including associate director of community, neighborhood, and government relations; associate director for state policy and legislative affairs; and assistant director of government relations.
