Executive Director of Partnerships and Regulatory Affairs

Josh Warren serves as the Executive Director of State Relations and Regulatory Affairs. Warren leads a new practice area for the Division of Government Relations, Advocacy and Economic Development by working with state government leaders to develop and secure new partnerships that benefit both the university and the State. This exciting work has helped launched the “Grow Your Own” program with the Tennessee Department of Education, developed a mobile clinic operated by UT Health Science Center with support from the Tennessee Commission on Aging and Disability, and helped secure funding for the construction of the Water and Education Training Center at UTIA’s Lone Oak Farms with the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. Warren also engages on legislative issues of interest to the University and coordinates the University’s response on regulatory matters.  Prior to joining the UT System, Warren served as the Legislative Liaison for the Tennessee Department of Education. In this role, he worked under Governor Bill Haslam and Commissioner Candice McQueen helping advance the department’s legislative and budget priorities. Warren earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and has been with the UT System since 2017.
