Assistant Vice President of Government Relations and Advocacy

A Nashville native and a Middle Tennessee State University graduate, Tim Sigler is the Assistant Vice President for Government Relations & Advocacy for the University of Tennessee (UT) System. Since 2011, he has served in varying roles in state government. Before joining UT, Tim served as Senior Legislative Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor. In that role, he was appointed as a staff representative on the Tennessee State Building Commission, a member of the Council of State Governments’ Shared State Legislation Committee, and a member of the Legislative Sick Leave Bank Advisory Committee. Earlier in his career, Tim served as Executive Assistant for Policy and Research to the Lt. Governor and Research Analyst for the Senate Finance, Ways, and Means Committee. These experiences allowed him to learn from Tennessee’s top government officials as they made decisions regarding impactful policy changes and the appropriation of state funds.

In his current role, where he has served since 2020, Tim acts as a liaison between the UT System and state government advocating for the University’s top funding and policy priorities. Tim is a graduate of the UT Executive Leadership Institute (Class of 2022).
